BRISTOL — The Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut has raised a quarter of its $200,000 goal to finish the handicapped accessible trail at the Barnes Nature Center, which is now on-track to open on May 5.

The mile-long trail is in the second phase of construction. The one-way trail will take people, who might not otherwise be able to access a nature trail, on a winding route through a pine and hemlock forest, a deciduous forest, a wetlands and over the Freeman Hill brook.
