Eversource work on Federal Hill expected through July

Street work continues on Federal Hill as workers install new gas lines earlier this week on the corner of Stearns and Goodwin streets. | David Fortier

Eversource will continue its work on Federal Hill through July, according to correspondence from the company. The work includes replacing existing gas lines under streets as well as work on gas customers gas lines and meters. The work will be completed in phases.

Eversource gas customers with gas meters outside their homes will most likely not require moving those meters. Customers with meters inside will have those meters moved outside. Work will include replacing existing gas service lines and installing curb values at the street.

Other upgrades may be required, depending on individual situations. This work will temporarily disrupt natural gas service, but Eversource has said it will notify customers of these interruptions in advance, as well as upon completion, including turning on meters, relighting natural gas appliances and performing safety checks.

The following streets have been or will be affected, since work began in January:

Woodland, Goodwin, Walnut, Oakland, Maple, Stearns, Bradley, Broadview; and Prospect Place.

The work is being completed by NPL Construction crews and Geary Mechanical, on behalf of Eversource.

For information, contact Eversource gas supervisor, John Folger at (508) 889-1263 or NPL Construction’s Jason Bennett at (413) 432-9916.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
