Attorney Colette Griffin of CT Votes for Animals, Nancy Perry, SVP of Government Relations at the ASPCA; Sen. Richard Blumenthal; and James Bias, executive director of the Connecticut Humane Society, discuss Goldie's Act.

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal this week visited the Connecticut Humane Society in Newington to introduce Goldieā€™s Act, a new piece of legislation that aims to protect dogs in puppy mills.

The bill, which Blumenthal co-sponsored with Sen. Rick Scott of Florida and introduced on March 21, would update the Animal Welfare Act to ensure the U.S. Department of Agriculture enforces laws already on the books and issue fines. The bill accompanies legislation introduced in the House of Representatives last year.
