Tribute

Matthew Yeaman, Jr., 75, of Bristol, formerly of New York, entered into eternal life peacefully on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 after a hard fought five year battle with lung cancer with his wife and children by his side. He was born November 28, 1946, "Turkey Baby" as he would say to his parents Matthew and Catherine (Spencer) Yeaman in Brooklyn, NY. He was the first of seven children. He was raised in Franklin Sq., NY. After graduation from Rice High School, he then enlisted to serve the United States Air Force. He bravely served in Vietnam all the while writing his weekly letters to his greatest love along with a weekly rose. Matthew married his greatest love Jane August 14, 1971. They started their family in New York while he worked for AT&T and transferred to CT in 1984. He continued to work for AT&T until his retirement in 2004. From there he had a few odd and end jobs but none he enjoyed more than working for First Student Bus Company for 11 years. He enjoyed his early morning runs and refueling with all his "girlfriends" at the yard.  Matthew was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church where he was a weekly usher at the 9:30 mass. In addition to his loving wife of 51 years, Jane. He is survived by their children, Matthew Yeaman of Bristol, Jennifer Yeaman and Dan Krsmanovic of Mundelein, IL, Stacy Yeaman and fiancée John Witsil of Bristol and Shannon and Steve Steele of Bristol. He also leaves his most cherished grandchildren: Sarah, Arianna, Reaghan, Delaney, Caleb and Wyatt. He also leaves behind his 6 loving siblings: Richard (Patricia) Yeaman, Kathleen Yeaman, Denise (Robert) Tognan, Robert (Helen) Yeaman, Virginia (Thomas) Christensen, and Barbara Yeaman. As well as sister-in-laws: Mary Hatzipetro and Beverly Nuttall. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews of whom he loved and was so proud of. He also leaves behind many cherished friends that became family he gained throughout the years. He was the first to lend a helping hand to anyone that may have needed it even if they didn't ask for it. He was predeceased and welcomed with open arms by his parents, as well as sister-in-law Patricia Way, brother-in-law Robert Gebo, and daughter-in-law Kylee Pierce. The family would like to thank his Smilow Care Team, we couldn't have done the past five years without your compassionate care and dedication. Especially Marianne Davies, APRN. He had so many girlfriends he made during our many days spent with the team. As well as Hartford Healthcare Home Hospice Team.
