Dominick F. Ferro

April 2, 1941 ~ January 5, 2023 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Tribute

Dominick F. “Nick” Ferro, 81, of Thomaston, longtime Bristol resident, beloved husband of Judith (Semrow) Ferro of 59 years, passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital.

Nick was born on April 2, 1941 in Bristol and was the son of the late Dominick and Norma (Burgar) Ferro. He graduated from E.C. Goodwin Technical High School and served in the United States Navy before entering the plumbing trade. He would eventually go on to become an owner of The Shaffer Co. in Bristol.
A stand-up guy, you could be sure with just a handshake and a look in the eye he was a man of his word.
Nick enjoyed golfing, tending to his gardens and looked forward to his Wednesday night cards with the boys. For 45+ years he loved vacationing and making memories in Wildwood, NJ with his family and close friends, the Positano’s. Some people may remember him as Santa Claus, as he handed out red balloons during the Bristol children’s holiday parade each year. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Bristol.

In addition to his wife, Judi, Nick is survived by a son: Nick Ferro of Burlington; a daughter and son-in-law: Tamera and Richard Procko of Berlin; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Dennis and Faye Ferro, and James and Marta Ferro; a sister and brother-in-law: Debra and Robert Cusson; four grandchildren: Kayla Ferro and fiancé Jordan Pina, Jordyn and husband Matthew Dupont, Kaysie Procko and Jared Procko; three great grandchildren: Kyson and Savannah Pina, Emma Dupont; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:00 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1125 Stafford Ave., Bristol. Navy honors will follow. Calling hours will be at St. Andrew Lutheran Church on Saturday prior to the funeral between 9:30 and 11:00. Burial will be private.
We could not have gone through this journey without our special Nurse Jordyn. The family offers a special thank you to the medical teams at both The Hospital of Central Connecticut Cancer Institute and Waterbury Hospital ICU.
