Francis S. "Fran" Aparo

Francis S. “Fran” Aparo, 80, of Bristol, beloved husband of Shirley (Weinz) Aparo, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut-New Britain General surrounded by his family. Fran was born in New Britain on July 13, 1940 and was a son of the late Salvatore and Mary (Boscarino) Aparo. Shortly after graduating from E.C. Goodwin Technical High School in New Britain, he started his career at Stanley Works where he later retired after thirty plus years of service. Fran and Shirley were married in 1968 and settled in Bristol where they raised their family. Fran enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, camping, RC airplane & kite flying, music, and woodworking. He was car and motorcycle enthusiast who loved telling stories about his Studebaker Golden Hawk, Pontiac GTO and Harley Davidson Heritage Softail. Fran enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially loved hosting large gatherings at his home. He was a member of St. Matthew Church in Bristol. In addition to his wife, Fran is survived by three children: Joseph Aparo and wife Denise of Bristol, Doreen and husband David Zajac of Bristol, David Aparo and wife Andrea of Florida; eight grandchildren: Joseph, Jr. Aparo and wife Christine, Daniel Aparo and wife Ashley, Jason Clark and wife Amy, Michelle Ann and fiancé Jordan Kratter, Crystal Ridley and husband Ryan, Matthew, Nicholas and Ryan Aparo; eleven great-grandchildren: Allison, Kaleigh, Leah, Megan, Daniel, Jr, Elizabeth, Samantha, Hannah, Abigail, Elena, and Dane; his brother Paul Aparo and wife Linda; his sister in-law Sandy Zay and husband Albert; his brother in-law Roger Weinz; and several nieces and nephews. Fran was predeceased by his sister Lucille Blanchette, and sister in-law Suzanne Weinz.
Fran’s Celebration of Life will be this Friday, April 21, 2023 from 10 to 11 AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol. A catholic service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.
