Henrietta P. Fiamengo
July 13, 1925 ~ April 26, 2023 (age 97) 97 Years Old
Henrietta Philomena Fiamengo, 97, widow of Henry Fiamengo of Forestville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. She was born on July 13, 1925 in Dayton, OH the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Kuntz) Koehler. Henrietta is survived by her five children Paul Fiamengo and his wife Denise of Vandalia, OH, Nancy Byrne and her husband Thomas of West Hartford, Elaine Lewis and her husband David of Vandalia, OH, Lisa Lindsley and her husband Bruce of Forestville and Laurie Fiamengo of Xenia, OH; her sixteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with two on the way; her special sister-in-law Doris Donoghue of Forestville and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother Ken Koehler and her sister Betty Crawford. She attended the Our Lady of the Rosary School in Dayton and graduated from Kiser High School. She was an accomplished athlete who exceled in golf, basketball, softball, and bowling. After graduating from high school, she worked for eleven years at National Cash Register in Dayton. She had many friends there who she played with on the various NCR teams and travelled the country extensively with them. While on vacation in Seattle, WA in 1952 she met and fell in love with a strapping young man, Henry Fiamengo who was about to ship off to Korea to fight in the Korean war. When Henry returned from the war, they were married in 1955 and settled in Forestville, CT. Thus began their lifelong partnership that included building their home and several other houses together, travelling extensively across the US and to Europe. She especially loved visiting family in Italy. In between they raised five children who became the focus of their lives. Henrietta was very devoted to her faith and instilled that in her kids. She loved being surrounded by her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Church and the Women’s Guild. She remained very competitive later in life and was an avid card player, she especially loved playing rummy. The family is very grateful of the wonderful care she received from her caregivers during the last year. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 12 noon directly at St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave., Bristol, CT followed by a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery Bristol.
