The new Italian Bertizzon, donated by Rich Gaccione from Farifield, has been installed in the Carousel Museum. Successful fundraising this past year allowed us to finally bring the carousel home to the Museum in Bristol where it was installed by Island Carousel out of Florida. At this moment we are waiting for the state inspection so that we can receive our permit to operate. We expect our new carousel to increase attendance, birthday parties and facility rentals for the Museum.
The staff and volunteers are busy putting the carousel gallery back together getting ready to open the carousel to the public. A donors reception is planned for Friday, May 4, 2012 with the carousel opening to the public on Saturday, May 5 at noon. A special day is planned with entertainment and free rides from noon to 5 pm.

The Board of Directors of the Bristol Center for Arts & Culture is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2012 annual ACE Awards. The ACE awards, which stand for Art, Culture and Entertainment, will be awarded to Gerald O. Jensen, M.D. and The Older Members Association at an annual fundraising dinner held at the Bristol Center for Arts & Culture, located in the Carousel Museum building, on Thursday, May 10, 2012. The award was created to honor an individual(s) or organization(s) who have contributed to the art, culture, or entertainment in the Greater Bristol Community.
Dr. Gerald O. Jensen came to Bristol in 1962, and entered a Pediatric practice with Dr. Douglas Perry until 1974, when he started his own practice until his retirement in 1996. He was very active at the Bristol Hospital, where he served on many committees.
The Older Members Association has been a unique alumni and volunteer organization of the Boys & Girls Club since 1923. In 1941, The OMs staged their first annual show. It was an amateur talent show and was the only show of its kind in the area. It quickly became a leading community event in Bristol. Today, it remains as the longest continuously running variety show of its kind in the USA.
The ACE awards will be presented at an annual fundraising dinner on Thursday, May 10, 2012, and will include a cocktail hour, buffet dinner, an awards ceremony, raffle, and music. The event begins at 6:00 PM, and tickets are $50.00 each or $400.00 for a reserved table of 8. Tickets can be purchased at the Carousel Museum building, 95 Riverside Ave. in Bristol, or from the following Board Members: David Preleski, Ellen Robbins, Jeanne Radcliff, Vicky Biondi, Veronica Hunter, Roger Rousseau, Louise DeMars, Ed Krawiecki Jr., Ellen Ferrier, Bob Palazzo, Cheri Bilodeau-Barton, Joan White, Joan Seguljic, Laureen Rubino, Wendy Labadia and Mike Rivers. The proceeds from this event will benefit the general operations and educational programming of the New England Carousel Museum.
