Bristol Historical Society: Open House

Bristol Historical Society: Open House & Tribute to Teacher Ms. Loretta Teevan
June 11 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

This Saturday the Historical Society will open its doors and provide tours of its regular exhibits and special exhibits featuring the history of Bristol’s schools. In addition, the Society will be honoring the late Loretta Teevan, a Bristol educator for 43 years, who died this January. Come and share your stories and memories with fellow classmates.

It was Loretta’s habit to have her English, Latin, and Mythology students write personal retrospective essays every year, with a promise that they would be returned at some point. At some of the many class reunions at which she was a guest, Loretta would return some of these papers, but many have not yet found their way back to the original authors. Courtesy of her relatives, Kelly Monahan-DiNoia and Ellie Wilson will try to fulfill Loretta’s promise by making available many of those hundreds of papers. Come and see if we have yours!

In the spirit of Bristol’s school history, you can view the restored Minerva statue before it makes its way to its original home in the Memorial Boulevard Intra-district Arts Magnet school for the fall.

The Memorial Military Museum and Bristol Sports Hall of Fame, who share the building with the Historical Society will also be open on June 11th.
