This year the market will be held rain or shine through Saturday, October 14th and will once again be held at the Bristol Health Medical Care Center’s parking lot, located at 15 Riverside Avenue at Centre Square in downtown Bristol. Parking and entrance to the market will be accessible from Hope Street.

For the 2023 season, the Bristol Farmers Market is, again, being managed by the Bristol Rotary Club as a fundraiser for a variety of community service events and programs hosted by area non-profits.

The Bristol Farmers Market will offer products ranging from fresh vegetables, fruits, hemp, herbs and other products from local farms; to sweet treats and specialty baked goods; coffee; maple products; craft spirits; organic snacks; soaps, candles and other locally-produced, consumable products.

A new addition this year will be a weekly raffle. People who visit the market can enter the free raffle to win items donated by the vendors. Raffle slips will be available to fill out at the Welcome Rotary Club tent each week. There is no purchase necessary and will be open to everyone who visits the market.

The Bristol Farmers Market is an authorized SNAP/EBT Farmers Market and is recognized by the Connecticut Department of Agriculture as accepting payment vouchers from the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Farmers Market Nutrition Program and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. All participating farms are certified by the Connecticut Department of Agriculture.

This year the market will be held rain or shine through Saturday, October 14th and will once again be held at the Bristol Health Medical Care Center’s parking lot, located at 15 Riverside Avenue at Centre Square in downtown Bristol. Parking and entrance to the market will be accessible from Hope Street.

For the 2023 season, the Bristol Farmers Market is, again, being managed by the Bristol Rotary Club as a fundraiser for a variety of community service events and programs hosted by area non-profits.

The Bristol Farmers Market will offer products ranging from fresh vegetables, fruits, hemp, herbs and other products from local farms; to sweet treats and specialty baked goods; coffee; maple products; craft spirits; organic snacks; soaps, candles and other locally-produced, consumable products.

A new addition this year will be a weekly raffle. People who visit the market can enter the free raffle to win items donated by the vendors. Raffle slips will be available to fill out at the Welcome Rotary Club tent each week. There is no purchase necessary and will be open to everyone who visits the market.

The Bristol Farmers Market is an authorized SNAP/EBT Farmers Market and is recognized by the Connecticut Department of Agriculture as accepting payment vouchers from the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Farmers Market Nutrition Program and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. 6th Annual Mayor’s Back to School Pencil Hunt to be held on August 24th

Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS), in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office, will host the 6th Annual Mayor’s Back to School Pencil Hunt on August 24th. This year’s Pencil Hunt will provide Bristol Pre-K through 8th grade students with the school supplies they need to better ensure a successful start to the 2023-2024 school year.

The 6th Annual Mayor’s Back to School Pencil Hunt is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 24th from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Muzzy Field. Participants will be divided by grade level and will hunt for pencils spread across the historic field.
“Our goal is not just to create excitement surrounding going back to school,” explained Sarah Larson, Deputy Superintendent of BPRYCS, “but also to connect students and their families with the resources they need to have a successful school year, whether that is school supplies or community partners.”

Each participant will take home an age-appropriate goodie bag filled with school supplies. Children who pull specially-marked pencils will take home surprise Silver or Gold prizes, in addition to their school supply goodie bag.

The DK Movement Cares 5K Run aims to bring the community together, participate in a physical activity, and support a common cause that is meaningful to them. For our First Annual 5K Run, a portion of the proceeds raised will go to the Agape House Homeless Outreach of Bristol and The Bristol Special Olympics. This is 5K will take place at Bridge Community Church located at 43 School Street Bristol CT 0610. Event starts at 8:00AM and ends at 10:00 AM. Registration & Packet pick up will take place in the parking lot of the Bridge Community Church at 7:00 AM til 8:00 AM. Fun Run starts at 8:00 AM. followed by the 5K Run at 8:30 AM. Line up for runners is at 8:15 AM. Fitness Walkers are welcomed and will line up behind runners with a one mile course. Award Ceremony follows after 5K Run completed.

Join United Way of West Central Connecticut, Stephen AutoMall Centre, and Worldwide Wine & Spirits for the first annual Sizzling Summer Bash!

Stephen AutoMall Centre will be transformed from a car lot to a 21+ end-of-summer beverage tasting bash from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday, August 27, 2023!

Worldwide Wine & Spirits will have many of their distributors set up with beer, wine, and spirit samplings. BBQ will be provided by Munch Eatery from Ansonia. Along with an afternoon filled with music to celebrate the end of summer.

Special guest, Bristol native and NCAA National Champion, Donovan Clingan will be autographing basketballs and hosting a free-throw contest. (Additional charges for autographed balls ($30) and contest collected the day of the event).

Proceeds from the event benefit United Way of West Central Connecticut and support programs and community efforts in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, and Plymouth.

Join Jessica Dorner, Registered Dietitian, for this 4 week series on Understanding, Living, Eating & Managing Diabetes

4 week schedule:
Tuesdays at 4:30pm
August 22, 29 & Sept 12, 19 (skip Tues after Labor Day)

Jessica Dorner was a grocery store Dietitian for 4 years, and now owns her own private practice focusing on Worksite Wellness and public speaking. Jessica is currently also working on her Certified Diabetes Care and Educator Specialist Certification, with an excitement for diabetes management in adults of all ages. This is coupled with over 20 years experience in the grocery industry, plus 4 years as the grocery RD.

This 4 week series includes:
~Understanding, Living and Eating Well with Diabetes
~Meal Planning and Dining Out with Diabetes
~AMA session for attendees to ask questions, plus a fun trivia session
~MyPlate, Label Reading, and hands-on food workshop to sharpen skills surrounding portion sizes, etc
~Handouts and recipes to cover each week’s session

This is an informative and engaging learning experience for people with diabetes or pre-diabetes, as well as people who care for those with this diagnosis.
